Gardner Mattress is proud to be family-owned and operated. Founded during the Depression Era by Alan J. Gardner, the business has passed through three generations of family members accumulating nearly ninety years of experience in the mattress and sleep industry. The Gardner name is associated with not only high-quality mattresses but phenomenal customer service.

Expanded Showrooms

Over the nine-plus decades, Gardner Mattress has grown and expanded from the original factory and showroom in Salem, Massachusetts to three locations, including Woburn and Needham showrooms, each one with its own personality yet true to the Gardner family name. Our flagship factory and showroom in Salem, Massachusetts continues to showcase our expert craftsmanship.

One of our specialties is hand-tufted mattresses, which have a significantly longer lifespan than ordinary mattresses while still delivering the same wondrous comfort. Each mattress is crafted with an eye to ensure even pressure throughout it. Our mattress makers are constantly innovating to improve their time-tested methods and develop new levels of firmness using our organic materials.

Gardner Mattress has grown steadily over the past 90 years, thus establishing this company as innovators of the finest quality mattresses and box springs on the east coast and all of New England.

Over the course of its history, Gardner Mattress has provided handcrafted mattresses to people from all over the northeast as well as regularly shipping to Bermuda, the West Coast, and, occasionally, to Hawaii, London, and Costa Rica.

Most customers are regular, hard-working folks looking for a good night’s sleep, but occasionally a celebrity or historical figure has heard of the quality and attention to detail that Gardner provides and has sought out the mattresses sold right here in Massachusetts.
